1. About these terms

These terms apply when you enrol in training offered through Macedon Ranges First Aid.

Please read the course information and these terms before enrolling. By submitting an enrolment or paying a course fee, you confirm that you have read and accepted these terms.

Course-specific information—including course content, delivery arrangements, assessment requirements, prerequisites, fees, dates and locations—is provided on our website and through the booking system.

2. Registered Training Organisation

Macedon Ranges First Aid delivers nationally recognised training and assessment on behalf of:

Registered Training Organisation 90909

Allens Training Pty Ltd is responsible for the quality and compliance of the nationally recognised training and for issuing statements of attainment to eligible students.

Macedon Ranges First Aid operates under a registered third-party arrangement with Allens Training Pty Ltd.

3. Course information

We aim to provide accurate and current information about every course. Students are responsible for reviewing the relevant course information before enrolling, including:

  • The unit or units of competency

  • Course delivery format

  • Online learning requirements

  • Face-to-face attendance requirements

  • Practical assessment requirements

  • Course prerequisites

  • Physical participation requirements

  • Course fees

  • Training dates and locations

4. Unique Student Identifier

Students undertaking nationally recognised training must provide a valid and verifiable Unique Student Identifier, known as a USI.

A statement of attainment cannot be issued until the student’s USI has been successfully verified, unless the student is legally exempt from the USI requirement.

Students can create or locate their USI at www.usi.gov.au.

5. Enrolment

Some courses have prerequisites, minimum age requirements, online learning components or physical assessment requirements.

Students must provide accurate and complete enrolment information. Providing incorrect or incomplete information may delay enrolment, assessment or the issuing of a statement of attainment.

After enrolling, students may receive access to the Training Desk student portal. This portal may be used to:

  • Complete required online learning

  • Access course information

  • Review training records

  • Download previously issued statements of attainment

If a student does not meet a course prerequisite, we will explain the available options where reasonably possible.

6. Language, literacy and learning support

Students must have sufficient language, literacy and numeracy skills to understand the course material and complete the required assessments.

Students should contact Macedon Ranges First Aid before the course if they require learning, language, literacy, accessibility or other participation support.

Reasonable adjustments may be available. However, any adjustment must still allow the student to demonstrate all skills and knowledge required by the relevant unit of competency.

7. Physical assessment requirements

First aid and CPR courses include practical assessments.

Students completing a CPR unit must demonstrate CPR on a manikin placed on the floor, including at least two minutes of uninterrupted CPR.

Students should contact Macedon Ranges First Aid before enrolling if an injury, disability, medical condition or other circumstance may affect their ability to complete a practical assessment.

A statement of attainment cannot be issued unless all mandatory assessment requirements have been successfully completed.

8. Course delivery

Courses may be delivered through:

  • Face-to-face training and assessment

  • Online learning followed by face-to-face training and assessment

  • A blended delivery arrangement

The applicable delivery method will be identified in the course information or booking confirmation.

Students must complete any required online learning before attending the face-to-face session unless alternative arrangements have been approved.

9. Attendance and participation

Students must attend the required training and assessment sessions at the stated time and location.

Late arrival or failure to complete mandatory course content may prevent a student from completing the assessment. Where this occurs, the student may need to transfer to another available session.

Students must participate safely, follow reasonable instructions from the trainer and behave respectfully towards trainers, venue staff and other participants.

Macedon Ranges First Aid may ask a student to leave a course where their behaviour is unsafe, disruptive, abusive or otherwise inappropriate.

10. Course fees

The applicable course fee will be disclosed before enrolment.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, the course fee includes:

  • Tuition and assessment

  • Reasonable trainer support

  • Required student workbooks, handouts or learning materials

  • Use of the training venue

  • Use of equipment required during the course

Students will be advised before enrolment if they are required to supply any additional equipment, identification, technology or learning resources.

Replacement fees may apply if a student loses or damages issued learning materials or requests replacement resources.

11. Payment

Course fees are payable when enrolling unless Macedon Ranges First Aid has agreed to another payment arrangement in writing.

A statement of attainment will not be issued until:

  • The student has successfully completed all training and assessment requirements

  • A valid USI has been verified, unless an exemption applies

  • All applicable course fees have been paid

For group bookings, payment terms will be specified in the relevant quote or invoice.

12. Student cancellations and transfers

Requests to cancel or transfer an enrolment must be provided in writing to Macedon Ranges First Aid.

The following cancellation arrangements apply:

  • If notice is received more than 10 days before the course begins, the student is eligible for a full refund of the course fee paid.

  • If notice is received within 10 days of the course beginning, the student is eligible for a refund of 75% of the course fee paid.

  • If a student cancels after the course has commenced, the student is not ordinarily eligible for a refund.

  • A short-course enrolment may be transferred to another available course date, subject to availability.

  • There is ordinarily no additional charge to transfer to another available course date.

For courses involving online or distance learning, the course may be considered to have commenced once the student has been given access to the learning materials or online course.

Approved refunds will ordinarily be returned using an appropriate electronic payment method within 14 days after the written cancellation request is accepted.

13. Exceptional circumstances

We understand that unexpected circumstances can arise.

Macedon Ranges First Aid and Allens Training Pty Ltd may consider a transfer, course credit or refund outside the standard cancellation policy where a student can demonstrate significant or extenuating personal circumstances.

Any decision will be made individually and may require reasonable supporting information.

Nothing in this section guarantees that a refund or credit will be approved.

14. Course cancellation or rescheduling

Macedon Ranges First Aid or Allens Training Pty Ltd may cancel, postpone or reschedule a course because of:

  • Insufficient enrolments

  • Trainer illness or unavailability

  • Venue unavailability

  • Severe weather

  • Emergencies

  • Safety concerns

  • Other unforeseen circumstances

If we cancel a course and cannot provide the booked training, the person or organisation that paid the course fee will be offered:

  • A transfer to another suitable course date; or

  • A refund of the applicable course fee

We will make reasonable efforts to notify affected students as soon as possible.

To the extent permitted by law, Macedon Ranges First Aid is not responsible for incidental expenses associated with a course change, including travel, accommodation or lost income.

15. Course changes

Course dates, locations, trainers, delivery methods or other arrangements may occasionally change.

Where a material change affects an existing enrolment, we will notify the student and explain the available options.

We may update advertised course fees at any time. A fee change will not affect a course that has already been fully paid for unless the student requests a change to their enrolment.

16. Assessment outcomes

Completing a course or attending a session does not automatically guarantee that a student will receive a statement of attainment.

Students must successfully demonstrate all required skills and knowledge.

Where appropriate and permitted by the applicable assessment process, students may be given an opportunity to provide further evidence or undertake reassessment. Additional training or reassessment fees may apply where disclosed in advance.

17. Statements of attainment

Statements of attainment for nationally recognised units are issued by Allens Training Pty Ltd, RTO 90909.

Certificates are issued after all enrolment, payment, USI and assessment requirements have been satisfied.

Students should ensure their legal name and contact details are entered correctly during enrolment.

18. Privacy

Personal information is collected and handled for purposes including:

  • Processing enrolments

  • Delivering training

  • Conducting assessments

  • Verifying a USI

  • Maintaining training records

  • Issuing statements of attainment

  • Meeting regulatory and government reporting requirements

Information relating to nationally recognised training may be provided to Allens Training Pty Ltd and relevant government or regulatory bodies as required by law.

19. Complaints and appeals

Students are encouraged to raise concerns promptly so they can be addressed fairly.

Questions or concerns about course administration should first be directed to Macedon Ranges First Aid.

Complaints or appeals relating to nationally recognised training, assessment decisions or RTO responsibilities may also be handled under the policies of Allens Training Pty Ltd.

20. Australian Consumer Law

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable legislation.

21. Changes to these terms

Macedon Ranges First Aid may update these terms when its services, policies or legal obligations change.

The terms applying to an enrolment will ordinarily be those published or provided when the booking is made.
